Într-o scrisoarea adresată lui Leonard Doroftei, preşedintele Federaţiei Române de Box, Franco Falcinelli, preşedintele EUBC, transmite felicitări pentru organizarea turneului “Centura de Aur – Nicolae Linca” şi urează mult succes sportivilor prezenţi la această competiţie. Vă prezentăm mai jos textul mesajului transmis de înaltul oficial:
Stimate Preşedinte Doroftei,
Vă transmit sincerele mele felicitări pentru “Centura de Aur” şi locul său glorios în istoria Boxului Românesc. Centura de Aur a confirmat mulţi mari campioni care au câştigat mai târziu medalii olimpice, mondiale şi continentale.
În trecut, turneul din Bucureşti reprezenta un punct de de referinţă pentru fair-play şi rezultate corecte.
În calitate de Antrenor Principal al Italiei, am participat în 1988 la turneu şi apreciez din plin spiritul sportiv al publicului şi capacitatea de management a Federaţiei Române de Box. Un exemplu foarte bun al acestui spirit a fost ceea ce s-a întâmplat atunci când un boxer român a câştigat pe nedrept împotriva unui boxer turc în faţa unei mulţimi de 10.000 de spectatori. Înainte de începerea protestelor, Dn. Chiriac a luat microfonul pentru a anunţa: “În numele Federaţiei Române de Box şi a tuturor românilor, rezultatul final a fost schimbat, iar câştigătorul este boxerul turc”. Anunţul a fost urmat de aplauze furtunoase din partea publicului şi aprobare din partea antrenorilor şi oficialilor delegaţiilor străine.
Sunt foarte recunoscător că am avut şansa să am această experienţă şi amintire, pentru că boxul românesc este, în primul rând, un instrument de educaţie care a creat şi format mari talente la nivel naţional, continental şi mondial.
Cu un mare entuziasm, în numele EUBC, urez boxerilor mult noroc pe parcursul competiţiei şi o şedere plăcută pe durata turneului.

I would like to send my most sincere congratulations for the Golden Belt and it’s glorious place in Romanian Boxing History. The Golden Belt has solidified many great championships that have gone on to winning Olympic, world and continental medals.
In the past, the tournament in Bucharest was a point of reference for fair play and correct results.
As Italian Head Coach, we participated in 1988 and can fully appreciate the great sportiveness of the public and management from the Romanian Federation. A prime example was when a Romanian boxer unfairly won the match against a Turkish boxer in front of a home crowd of 10,000 fans, yet before the protest was made Mr. Khiryac took the microphone and announced this: “In the name of the Boxing Federation and all Romanians, the final result is changed and the winner is the Turkish boxer”. This was followed by a great applause from the public and approval from the Coaches and Officials of the foreign team.
I am very grateful to have experienced and remembered this, because Romanian boxing is strongly based as an educational tool, that has shaped and forged great talents on a national, continental and world level.
With great enthusiasm, on behalf of the EUBC, I wish the boxers the best of luck during the competition and a pleasant stay during the Tournament
